Meet the team

We have an excellent team here at ThinkShield, so let us introduce ourselves.

Tim - Managing Director

Tim Taylor I realised recently that I’ve been working for the last 33 years, 20 spent working in the Oil industry travelling to many different and extremely interesting places and the last 13 spent working with applications and interfaces. I’m extremely fortunate to have had such an interesting career that has allowed me to participate and witness some of the extraordinary technological advancements that many people have simply grown up with. I sometimes wonder how on earth we managed to survive all those years with only pen and paper!

I gained my BSc in 1976 specialising in Business and have been associated with the Healthcare industry for the past 9 years, my strengths lie in identifying trends and opportunities and while I am oriented towards management I am very comfortable in a technical setting albeit in a predominantly functional role.

I live in North London with my wife and our dog, and we have interests in music both playing and composing, and also enjoy the outdoors and most especially playing golf.

Ian – Technical Director

Ian - Technical DirectorI have 20 years experience in the software industry and has been involved in integration for 15 of those. I've worked in the Finance, Oil & Gas, Retail, Consultancy, Insurance, Hardware manufacturing and HealthCare industries in that time and I strive for excellence at all times.

I've had a major role in the architecture and design of the Transaction and Messages System for the NHS Spine, the backbone of the Connecting for Health initiative.

My degree in Computer Science places me firmly in the technical camp, but I have great communication skills and I'm equally comfortable in front of the management team, describing, in non-technical terms, the solutions that ThinkShield provide.

I live in Cornwall with my wife and 2 children. I run a smallholding and a holiday let business. I'm an outdoor person and enjoy walking, running and cycling. In 2007 I completed a 10-day walk to Everest Base Camp and completed the Cornish Marathon in 2009.

I'm also a qualified Level One Rugby coach and coach the Launceston Under-11’s team.

Sebastian – Operations and Delivery Manager

Seb enjoying a days rock climbing

Hi, I'm Seb and I am currently the Imperial NHS IT manager for two major PCT Cardiology projects, both geared towards moving healthcare from hospitals into the community.

I have a strong interest in web development, user-focused web design and graphic design and have developed a number of web based applications for the NHS using technologies such as ASP.Net and SQL. I am also trained in client virtualisation and Sun Ray deployment and configuration.

I'm experienced in creating, maintaining and testing eGate integration environments within an enterprise and have a wide knowledge of many different NHS applications and departmental processes. I was also the principle tester for Cerner CRS legacy interface testing at St Mary’s Hospital (London UK).

Despite living in London, I'm an outdoor person and I escape to the country whenever possible. In my spare time, I particularly enjoy rock climbing and skiing but am also an enthusiastic sailor, golfer and have a black belt in Chinese Boxing!

Adam – Development Manager

I finished my studies in 2006 with a Master's degree in Computer Science in which I specialised in databases. In my first job I gained experience in SQL and PLSQL working as a Senior Consultant in an insurance company. I also have experience as a Java Developer working on Linux with web base applications. I'm originally from Poland, but moved to London in order to learn English and to experience new things.

Mountaineering is my number one hobby, but I also enjoy travelling and organising trips. To relax I jog and tinker about on motorbikes.

Allan - Consultant

I have a Bachelor in Electronics and Communications Engineering. In the 3rd year of my degree I did a placement with a leading electronic company as hardware engineer. This mostly involved design, programming (embedded C) and test of microcontroller based products.

More recently I worked as PCB designer for a London base company working on network control of environmentally friendly products.

I have always been interested in systems integration. As such ThinkShield allows me to further my skills to continue my quest to become a system engineer. In addition, I am very passionate about technology in general and the way it helps to shape people's life.

In my spare times, I like playing tennis, staying active by going to the gym and I am also a keen swimmer/surfer.

Nikolay – Human Resources Manager

Nikolay - Operations Manager

I am Nikolay Traykov and I have joined ThinkShield as Operations Manager. I am originally from Sofia, Bulgaria and I have lived in London since September 2008.

I obtained my bachelor degree from the University of National and World Economy in Sofia in Trade and I'm currently completing an MSc in Human Resources Development and Consultancy at Birkbeck, University of London.

I am a person who always looks for challenges and likes to experience constant development. Apart from London I lived for three months in San Francisco, USA in 2007. That experience taught me to become culturally aware and to be an adaptive person tuned to be able to deal with various cultures and problems.

In my spare time I like to watch and play football. I am a big fan of Real Madrid and Chelsea. I am really keen on swimming and table tennis. Apart from sports I am a big music fan (rock, indie, punk, MJ, Metallica). I like reading on the social psychology topic and that is why I see the interaction between people really interesting and complicated.

Josh - Consultant

I graduated in Politics at York University in 2009 and I have been working in and around the NHS throughout my studies. Last year I worked at Barts and The London as a junior project officer for a major Change Programme. I was fortunate enough to join at the start of the Programme and to be able to see it through from its initiation to its completion. This experience sparked my interest in project management due to the unique challenges that each project brings with it.

I recently completed my Yachtmaster qualification and last summer I did my first professional yacht delivery from Antigua to Majorca. My passion is sailing, as there is nothing else quite like a day on the ocean.

In my spare time I follow the political news and Fulham FC, when I’m not on a boat I like to play squash and tennis. To relax I enjoy listening to music, playing jazz piano and attempting to learn how to play acoustic guitar.

Emre - Consultant

I'm from Istanbul, Turkey. In November 2009 I gained my MSc in Intelligent Systems and Robotics from the University of Essex. I have since decided to move into web development, AI and Robotics started becoming far too Sci-fi.

I have experience in developing web applications mainly with Microsoft technologies and also have experience with C++ and Java, thanks to my master and undergraduate studies.

In my free time I usually travel around, I try to see new places and I often go to concerts and gigs.

Peter - Consultant

I graduated from the University of Bristol in July of 2010 with a BSc in Biological Sciences. Instead of furthering my studies in Biology, I decided to pursue my passion for IT. I have a particular interest in Application and software development. With a Scientific degree it has put me in excellent stead to overcome the challenges involved with working within the computer industry such as problem solving and communication.

I have always been extremely involved in IT and have varying knowledge of an extensive range of programs and languages, as well as hardware experience. Whilst at university I developed and managed a comprehensive website for my society.

In my spare time I enjoy a wide diversity of hobbies, varying from Singing and Musical Theatre to Rugby, Martial Arts and Snowboarding.

Jesus - Consultant

I graduated as an IT Systems Engineer in Madrid (Spain), and having worked in IT in Spain for many years, I decided to improve my skills and knowledge and so I moved to London.

I have gained a wide experience in software development, with Java being my main programming language, although I learn other languages with ease.

I’m eager to widen my expertise, particularly in services and processes, and have obtained ITIL v3 Certification.

But not everything is work! Reading is one of my top hobbies, as is travelling. Always open-minded, I enjoy meeting new people and sharing special moments with them.

Martynas - Consultant

I’m originally from Lithuania and moved to UK in 2010. I’m an IT Engineer with hardware, network and software development experience. I’ve used a variety of development tools and programming languages.

A few years ago I developed my first mobile application using the Windows mobile platform and since that time building mobile applications has become my passion.

I’m currently working with the iOS platform, but I’m looking forward to the time when I can get my hands on the Android platform too.

I enjoy my current role at Thinkshield, because I work with friendly people and I always have new and interesting things to work on.

I like to spend my spare time with friends, going out and visiting new places.

Fran - Consultant

My name is Fran and I'm from Gran Canaria (Spain). I graduated as a Computer Science Engineer from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria University. I’ve gained experience from participating in different exchange programmes, spending one year in Italy and another in Barcelona.

I speak Spanish, Italian, Catalan and I'm now improving my English.

I moved to London six months ago in order to continue my career and to learn other working methods.

In my spare time I fond of sport, particularly body boarding, kick boxing and Brazilian jiu jitsu. Also, I love reading, mainly biographies of great people.

Vimal – Consultant

I graduated from Kingston University with a BSc (Hons) in Business Information Technology and have known for quite a while that I wanted to pursue a career in IT. I have an interest in providing IT/Software Support but my real passion is in consultancy and analysis because I like seeing how IT can help businesses to improve their processes but also after having completed a consultancy project in my university studies.

I have a vast knowledge of software applications, hardware knowledge and some programming languages also, and in time I hope to gain some industry-wide qualifications such as ITIL and Prince 2 to accompany my professional career.

In my spare time, I enjoy music, cricket, spending time with friends and playing tennis... though I'm no Andy Murray!

Jonathan - Marketing Assistant

My name is Jonathan. I am currently in my second year at Exeter University studying History and Theology. I am from North London and have lived there most of my life. I enjoy everything about music and also spending time with friends!

Maria – Financial Director

Having spent some 25 years in finance, initially as a KPMG article clerk, to more recently the Director of a large property business I can claim a broad experience base.

Common to all Accountant roles is the need to match regulatory requirements with real business information needs. In this regard I have always appreciated the efficiency improvements available through adoption of new technology.

ThinkShield, a leader in the arena of IT solutions, represents an opportunity for me to be part of IT advancements that will make a difference to real people’s lives through the Healthcare industry.

When I’m not balancing the books, I can be found unwinding on a tennis court or hockey field, generally watching a ball whizz by.

I live in Surrey with my husband and daughter with occasional visits from my student son.

Martin - Online Marketing

I've now spent a number of years managing and developing large corporate websites, which has involved everything from working on a sites' design, through to its launch. I've developed this website for ThinkShield. I've also carried out online marketing activities, using analytics tools to gauge a sites' performance and the changes that need to be implemented in order to drive benefit.

In recent years I've started to explore how businesses can make use of Social Media tools to gain real competitive advantage, particularly blogging, online communities and conversational tools like Twitter, hence helping Tim on raising the awareness of ThinkShield.

I also have a background in IT having spent 12 years of my life developing applications using Oracle. I'm an experienced Project Manager, having managed large scale development projects. I can talk techie when I need to.

In my spare time (what's that!), I enjoy eating out, travelling, skiing, blogging and watching the Gunners at the Emirates. I'm clearly not as active as some of the ThinkShield team!
