Recently I was lucky enough to attend one of the two training sessions arranged for ThinkShield employees and their suppliers. The sessions were run by Andre Radmall, at Intellect HQ, focusing on how we relate to one another, our customers and the world we live in.

There had been a number of rumours circulating about what we could expect from the day, as the agenda had been deliberately kept secret. As we knew a bit about Andre's background, some were expecting in-depth counselling sessions, whilst others expecting an opportunity to demonstrate their acting prowess, so the days were approached with a slight sense of trepidation. Fortunately, our fears were unfounded, and the sessions were really well received.

The theme for the day was 'Relationships'; we had an opportunity to find out more about each other and discuss current projects. We were also given time to think about how we communicate with each other within the company, and reflect on the relationships we have with our customers, family and friends. We discussed our individual aspirations and plans. It's not often that you get given the time or space to reflect on where you are heading.

Through the course of the day, Andre played snippets from a film called 'HOME'. If you've never seen it, then I would highly recommend watching it. It explores the impact we're having on the world we live in, and how we are depleting the world's natural resources. Towards the end of the film it looks at some of the innovations that are taking place that could reverse the negative effects we humans are having on our planet.

As ThinkShield employees and associates, we considered the negative impact we are having on our world, and questioned the part we could play as individuals and as a company, not only in 'day to day' activities, but also how we could develop innovative applications and services that could not only help the NHS, but the wider world we live in too.
